five-year strategic plan articulates a planning and an implementation
process for Njala University. The commitments, goals and strategies set
forth in the plan indicate the direction the University will take in order
to achieve, maintain and enhance excellence in all of its endeavours.
The
process of strategic planning develops a commonality of purpose, a positive
respect for our differences and a shared sense of responsibility for our
future. By stressing excellence in the modes of instruction, research
and community service, by recognizing the importance of diversity and
innovation, and by building a shared community, we are resolved to meet

| Upon
assumption of duty as First Vice Chancellor and Principal of Njala University
(NU), my first major challenge was to set the machinery in motion to begin
as a new University in accordance with the Universities Act 2005. Officially,
Njala University became operational on 1st August, 2005. About three months
prior to the official commencement, I appointed interim Managers for six
of the eight Schools/Faculties prescribed by the Act. These interim Managers
were given the mandate to prepare the academic programmes in consultation
with their faculties in readiness for our first Senate which took place
on the 19th August, 2005...... |
